PWM — Pollution Washing Machine
An experimental solution designed to reduce outdoor particulate matter through atomisation and air washing.
The Pollution Washing Machine is a modular system designed to address a tangible challenge: air quality in outdoor spaces used by people.
The prototype uses high-pressure nozzle lines, ventilation, environmental sensors and collection tanks. It aims to capture suspended particles and produce data for evaluating treatment effectiveness.
The project was presented at Maker Faire Rome, received regional recognition through “Cambiamo Aria” and was submitted to the 2026 iF Design Award.
